Second protagonist and Hero of the story, Sparrow is an honest, good man despite the violence of his childhood and the devastating events of his life. He takes each day as it comes and is difficult to goad into anger by all but Reaver, who seems to know just what buttons to press and takes delight in doing so. Without his kind heart he may have simply left Reaver to suffer his fate, but even after pulling him from the jaws of oblivion he would not change his actions, nor any of his past, even those which had cost him his wife and two children.

Taking up temporary residence in Bloodstone Manor in an attempt to better the town, he finds himself the focus of the previous owner’s wrath, though his quiet manner and silent acceptance of almost every snide insult and threat soon put a stop to any attempts to get rid of him.

Patient, intelligent and generous, with a powerful control of Will and strength to rival Hammer’s, it is tempered by his personality, and his nature allows him to place trust in Reaver with far more ease than anyone else. The pirate had better watch his back, however – Sparrow does not take betrayal lightly.
